So, what is body fat and why is it present in our bodies? Fat is essential in the proper functioning of the human body. The human brain is composed mainly of fat and water. Also, we need body fat as a source of backup fuel for our bodies. Fat is also essential in the proper functioning of our internal organs. Fat is not that bad actually.
Excess body fat is what we want to remove from our bodies. Why is there excess body fat? Body fat is stored in excess usually because we eat irregularly and our bodies are not efficient in utilizing this source of fuel. So the question really is, how did this come about? It is quite simple. We eat at varying times, our body gets confused, sometimes you starve yourself, during those times, your body is ready to react to any nutrient or calorie that you eat. Majority of what you eat after you starve yourself will be stored as fat because your body is preparing just in case you starve yourself again. Also, as a consequence of this, your metabolic rate will go down to conserve energy. As a consequence, our body will be more efficient in storing food as fat and will be in an energy conservation mode. This is really bad is we want to lose the extra inches.
Based on books published about Bruce Lee, he is a very active man. Too active relative to 99% of the people in the world. He runs 4-5 miles every day in under 20 minutes, and that’s just for fun, he also practices martial arts everyday and trains with weights. He eats regularly, about 6-8 times a day. His body is designed not to store fat because he does not give it the reason to store fat. He also takes protein shakes mixed with nuts and fruits if no whole food is available around so that he will have constant supply of nutrients in his system throughout the day.
