How Do You Find the Best Omega 3 Supplements?

You’ve decided it’s time to start taking fish oil supplements, but how to find the best fish oil supplements?

I can understand that, it’s confusing. There’s so many Omega 3 capsules around, and they differ so much in price. More capsules in the bottle, less capsules. More expensive, less expensive.

But isn’t fish oil just fish oil? Aren’t they all basically the same so you buy the cheapest? No.

There are 4 different things to think about. The freshness of the fish oil used, the amount of DHA in the supplements, the purity of the fish oil and it’s effectiveness.

1. The quantity of the DHA.

Most ordinary capsules are 18/12. This means that they are 18% DHA and 12% EPA. The DHA is the most important Omega 3 fat to your health, and the major fat in your brain is DHA.

But how do you find out how much DHA is in your capsules? Read the label. If it’s not listed on the label don’t buy them because it isn’t there for a reason. There isn’t a lot, if there was they’d tell you.

2. Freshness of the oils.

Oils from fish can oxidize, or go rancid. Often when you take a capsule it “repeats” on you, via a burp, and it tastes “fishy”. It shouldn’t, this is not right and means that it’s not fresh oil, and has gone off. Oxidized oil has free radicals in it, and these are bad for you, whereas you want a supplement that is good for you, not bad.

3. Purity of the fish oils used.

Fish live in oceans that we people have contaminated with chemicals that we use, that get into rivers, for example, and end up in the sea. And in the flesh of the fish.

There’s all sorts of standards for fish oil contamination, none binding, all varying. And different methods of decontamination of fish oils.

4. Effectiveness of the supplements.

Some fish oil supplements are more effective than other supplements. Inflammation is a big problem for many people, one of the reasons why aspirin is used so much. One of the major benefits of Omega 3 fish oils, well the best ones anyway, is that they work against inflammation way better than aspirin.

So there’s 4 things to think about when choosing your Omega 3 supplements. Are you even more confused now? Sorry.

The good news is that there is one supplement that is, in my view, without qualification, the worlds best fish oil supplement. They have 28% DHA, they use oil from fish from the southern ocean, the cleanest ocean in the world. They purify it using the best technology in the world, molecular distillation. They get each batch of oil independently tested to certify quality, purity and freshness and publish the certificates on their website.

And they have test results showing effectiveness against inflammation at around 2 1/2 times more than other omega3 supplements.

They aren’t the cheapest, but then at 28% DHA you need less capsules anyway. Hopefully I’ve convinced you that price isn’t the only consideration when it comes to buying Omega 3 fish oil capsules.

So there’s the 4 main things that you need to think about if you’re looking to find the best Omega 3 supplements.
