Jumping into Volleyball

Do you play volleyball and want to be better? Well the first part of knowing how to play well is understanding the rules.

The best thing for any indoor player to do is to practice by playing beach volleyball. Have you ever wondered why California produces the best indoor players in America? It’s because they practice in the sand all day long. 2 on 2 makes you develop every part of your game and will help you a ton.

I would never recommend that a beach volleyball player ever practice on a hard court because it doesn’t work that way. The challenge comes from moving in the sand.

If you are able to move in sand with speed you will be that much faster when you move on a court for obvious reasons. Another great way to improve your game is by jumping out of sand.

When you try to jump in sand you will realize that it takes a lot of energy to do and once you get use to it you will be jumping very high on the court. You will get use to jumping with all your force and then on a hard court it will feel super easy.

The form you use when jumping out of sand if much different than indoor jumping. You can’t do your broad jump so you will be jumping up instead forward.

Once you learn to practice all parts of your game you will notice that windows of opportunities will open up to you. You may start playing a completely different position.

Doing plyometrics is another great way to increase you jump height whether in sand or on a hard court. Remember that you don’t have to be born being able to jump high. You can always work on you hops and train your body to jump higher that it currently can with the proper jump training program.
