Why Aerobics Can Be Ineffective for Weight Loss

Aerobics or cardiovascular exercises have always been a popular sport. Many people take on aerobics as a sport and hobby hoping they can end up looking like those athletes on television that compete in the Olympics. They tend to think, “Surely this is an exercise that can help lose weight, and if it works for athletes then it should definitely work for me right?” Well, you could be wrong.

For those that do not know, you can only lose weight if you create calories deficits. This simply means that you burn more calories and consume less. If you undertake an activity or activities that help burn calories, this can be an excellent start to your calorie-controlled diet if you want to shake those extra pounds.

If you decide to go for a low pace jog for about 30 minutes, you can burn 300 calories at a time. This certainly contributes towards you achieving your weight loss goal. You could also earn that piece of chocolate that made you feel guilty about eating before.

Many people view aerobics as a weight-losing sport, but there is only a very few people that can actually claim weight loss success with it.

Studies have concluded that cardio exercises play a small part in losing weight. The reason for this is because it doesn’t concentrate on a fat zone. If you engage in an aerobic activity, whatever calories you burn do not neccessarily translate to the fat calories utilized in that exercise.

Aerobic exercises are meant to help keep fat oxidation up. An aerobic activity improves the cardiovascular system, and this simply means that the oxygen your body delivers is done so efficiently. This makes it easy for your system to utilizefat as energy instead of glucose.

Unfortunatelly alot of cardio makes you breathless leading to anaerobic exercising. And this does not lead to fat burning, but it does surely contribute to stopping weight gain.

Aerobics have a number of general well-being and health benefits that one can gain from:

  • Your energy levels are increased
  • Your mental health is improved and stress is reduced
  • Lung and heart efficiency is increased
  • The chances of you having a heart attack or stroke is reduced
  • Blood pressure is also reduced

And as stated before, they will help you keep the fat off, but it will not neccessarily help you lose it. It is important that you take on other exercises if you want to lose weight. For example resistance training.

However don’t let this stop you from setting your goal and achieving it. You can utilize aerobics and be sure that you will benefit from the activity every day you do it. It is certainly a great way to keep the weight off if you have had a problem in this area before.
